workers' struggle

I would like to highlight the plight of the workers in recent industries in a precise manner. Recent uproar & upheavals in Maruti Suzuki help to reflect the same which I am talking about. Decision of the Suzuki Top management to reduce the various components of salaries despite taking authorized leave and to go against the workers' demand to create a trade union to voice their concern and protest is really draconian. After so many years of establishment of the plant, they are now imposing upon the workers to sign a good code of conduct. Does not it mean that existing rules so far in the organization is having no provision to punish any misconduct or indiscipline? After the liberalization of economy and consequent ascendancy of crony capitalism have brought up many changes in the labor scenario. In today's era, the basic right of labors to form a trade union or to protest against some invidious practice against the oppressive capitalist culture is being trampled upon with every impunity. That's why, the ill is prevailing throughout the country and in maximum organization we can witness the existence of contract labors who are for a transitory period.
